Perception is NOT reality!

Who says an old dog can’t learn new tricks.  This week, I hope not only made me think twice about the season, but others as well.  As the summer comes to a close and leaves begin to drop we expect less participants every Wednesday, but to my surprise we had a great turn out this week.  The sky was clear and the enthusiasm was high.

Our fearless leader was off to Tennessee reinventing himself with ear piercing and tattoos.  So the responsibility of leading the group fell to me and I mean it when I say it was a privilege.  We headed out at normal time and ventured down route 19 to 6N where I made a turn back toward town on route 99 until we reach Old State road.  A scenic and quite backcountry road was the perfect canvas for our ride west of to 98 where we turned north and commenced the ride at the Avonia Tavern in Fairview.

As I dismounted my bike and watched the other riders do the same, I realized that when you think something is one way, it will eventually be that way (Perception is reality).  But as most riders and customers feel the motorcycle season is over, this group is a sample of larger group that know some of the best riding is yet to come this year.  The temperature may be down but that means less bugs and the tree lines are filling with changing colors everyday.  So while its considered fall, don’t kid yourself, there is still plenty of time to ride.

Avoina Tavern presented hot fresh food to the crew and their menu ranged from the normal deep fried foods to come great sandwiches and wraps.  The soups were a perfect start to the meal as well.  It is well worth the stop if you make it to that side of town, in fact it is worth making a trip to that side of town.

Zebra Mussel – That is what I feel like when it comes to my ride of the week, I have been attached to the ST1100 for most of the summer and to date cannot find a flaw with it.  Keep in mind this bike is over 15 years old but stacks up in performance and appearance with a new unit on our showroom floor.  In am surprised this unit has not sold, but in the same breath I am kind of glad for my own personal benefit.  I know will have to go someday to a lucky rider.

Until or next group ride, be safe and enjoy the season.
