STEAK & SHAKE (OH)
BACK IN THE SADDLE AGAIN...
Seems like a decade ago I was on one of Cycle City’s great Ride N Dine Club rides. It was refreshing to be back in the group again.
This week brought a healthy size group as we all respect the season and the limited time we have to enjoy it. Also this brought some new faces and we welcome them into the club and hope they had as much fun as we did. With a perfect clear sky and temperature we head south to Route 6N and meandered our way over to Ashtabula Ohio.
With our aimless leader, Big Rick, we expected nothing short of a route that would give us the best roads and scenery. While this ranks up there with one of the longer rides it is one of the more enjoyable rides. It gave a window of solitude for ‘Me Time’, I got to reflect on things at work, mentally look back at other great rides of the year and the ability to change lives in kids at the Royal Family Kids Camp and then the mind turn to an important factor…. Food.
Our club rolled into the Steak & Shake and I began to salivate before I could even get my helmet off. As normal the burgers and shakes were rewarding and the groups chattered among themselves. This week the riders were generous to make a donation to support the upcoming Light the Night Leukemia walk.
I had no intentions on riding the Honda ST1100 again, I was saddled on a great Kawasaki Vulcan 900 Classic but minutes before the departure it was sold and I was forced back to the ST. Can’t say enough about this machine and for the year and condition and comfort I am surprised it is still on our floor. Maybe that is someone trying to give me a sign.
See you guys next week.
